Explosions in the Sky, a four-piece post-rock from Austin, Texas formed in 2009, are currently embarking on their 20th Anniversary Tour. With Chris Hrasky on drums, Michael James on guitar/bass, Munaf Rayani on guitar/keyboard/drums, and Mark Smith also on guitar, they create a sound that to me, is almost impossible to describe. Their music is the epitome of music being a language beyond what spoken word can interpret and explain. Being mostly instrumental, with intricate guitar melody lines coming together to fill your soul and drums perfectly interlaced, you will find yourself letting go and becoming one with the music. Their song,”Your Hand in Mine”, is my favorite song in the history and future of songs for the reason being that it somehow always matches my mood and provides a feeling comfort like nothing else in this world has ever been able to do.
Having released seven studio albums along with their music being featured as many a soundtrack including “Friday Night Lights” and “Lone Survivor”, Explosions in the Sky are far from short of music accomplishments. To experience music like no other that will leave you rejuvenated and at a level of peace it seems only sleeping babies can achieve buy your tickets to Explosions in the Sky’s Houston stop at White Oak Music Hall on October 25th here. If you can’t make it to a show, be sure to stream their music on Spotifyor Apple Music to have that therapeutic soundtrack with you wherever you go.
