John Legend Serenades The Audience of Rodeo Houston!
Written by Sunita Dharani on March 9, 2015
This past Friday night, the city of Houston was in for a treat when John Legend was set to perform at the Rodeo. It was obvious that this was not John’s first time on the Rodeo stage by showing how comfortable he was with the arena and the crowd. He is no stranger to the Houston audience and they all embraced John Legend. He embraced all 69,500 of us back.
John Legend came dressed to impress, which he always does! It was a bit uncomfortable, since everyone else in the arena was wearing jeans or cowboy boots. He spend most of the time on the piano, showcasing his undoubtable skills while serenading us with “Let’s Get Lifted” and my favorite, “Caught Up.” The audience was in awe as John serenaded us the entire night. The calm and lighthearted ambience of the arena was working in his favor as he kept telling us how happy he was to be in Houston.
Legend picked up the tempo and stood from the piano to have some fun with the crowd! He performed his 2008 hit, “Green Light” and a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You,” which had the audience going crazy. John went back to the piano and took us back all the way to 2004 with the song that started his career, “Ordianry People.” It is definitly a crowd favorite and he even let us take over and sing with him! He proceeded to perform his most recent single, “All of Me” and ended with his Academy Award Winning Song, “Glory.” He took time out to talk about the movie “Selma” and what the song meant to the world. His humble words were the best way to end the hour long set!
John Legend is a true gentleman and one of the best performers of our time. If you haven’t already, make it a point to see him perform live at least once!
