Sometimes the most simplistic lyrics are perhaps the ones that actually matter.  Alexander Sjodin’s creation of Sailor & I is quoted in, “…a metaphor for two wills inside a person that are fighting against one another. It is part of most peoples’ everyday lives. It’s interesting because there are times people do things they don’t want […]

Happy College Radio Day! September flew by so quickly, we have no idea where it went. Among the exorbitant amounts of homework, papers, tests, and hours at work, the station managed to throw a successful third birthday party to celebrate the start of a new year. To celebrate College Radio Day and the beginning of […]

Download “Veida” here for free, and be sure to check the Tontons in November during their fall tour!

Phantogram, a New York synth-pop duo, is releasing its new album on Monday as announced on its Facebook page. The last time I heard of a Phantogram release was back in 2011 with its EP titled, “Nightlife,” which scored good reviews across the web. Now two out of its four songs are available to stream […]

Editor’s note: This review was written by Michael Geronimo I had the pleasure to attend the Fall Out Boy/Panic! At The Disco/Twenty-One Pilots show at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Wednesday. For those of you who don’t listen to my show (Reggae Among Dude Thursdays 7-9pm), I am also a high school teacher, so I was […]

I knew. Ever since I found Rhythm and Poetry on Reddit under the heading of “I’m a Houston rapper who just released his first mix tape”, I knew. As soon as I heard the Henry Rollins sample, I knew. When I heard his choice of beats (Atmosphere being among them), I knew.  When I heard […]

Sky Ferreira’s music video for “You’re Not the One” was released Tuesday. “You’re Not the One” comes off of her debut album, Night Time, My Time. Check the video out, and let us know what you think in the comments below.

What’s poppin’ inter-webs? Guess who was in our humble town of Houston, Texas last week? None other than the Chef himself, and I’m gonna tell you about the show. However, let’s start with some history first: If you don’t know, Raekwon, a.k.a. Corey Woods, a.k.a. the Chef, came on the hip-hop scene in the early […]

I just had to, and I have a feeling like tonight is gonna be a night to remember *cough* birthday party *cough*. Please note that the birthday party has been moved to the Houston Room.

Check out these pictures from Vox Vocis’ live on-air performance during Old Time Radio Show!  Be sure to check out Vox Vocis tomorrow at our birthday party concert! [slideshow] Photos by: Diego Suarez

Editor’s note: This review was written by Bryan Dupont-Gray in cooperation with The Daily Cougar. There was never an artist who could excel in the highest fashion by using a mashup of R&B and rap music as Aubrey “Drake” Graham has. However, as we have seen in Drake’s albums “Thank Me Later” and “Take Care,” […]

Discovery Green is easily one of my most favorite places in our great city. The engineering and technology used for this park should influence the rest of the city to adapt a greener state of being. One way to promote that and rally more people to experience this fantastic place is to hold a concert! […]

Tonight, my insomnia has led me to this little gem. Korean-American rapper and actor Jonathan Park, aka Dumbfoundead, released his music video for “CLEAR” a few days ago. “CLEAR” comes off of DFD’s album, Old Boy Jon, which you can buy for a good ole’ $7 here. The cinematography. Damn. The production value. Damn. I […]

Check out the official video for Solange’s “Lovers in the Parking Lot,” which was released today, and can I just say it is almost like visual eye candy… OK not quite, but you get my point. The video was conceptualized by Solange and made exclusively in Houston and in conjunction with The Creator’s Project.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeuiV4BqIg4 HSY recently released its music video for “Tartar Mouth,” the last track off its self-titled EP, which could be streamed in full on its Bandcamp page. It has that “What-the-f***-did-I-just-watch???” quality to it, but somehow it’s mesmerizing at the same time.

Be sure to check out Vox Vocis  on Old Time Radio Show this Thursday!  They’ll be doing an interview, and even doing a live acoustic performance on air!  Get a taste of them before you see them live this Saturday at our birthday party! Check them out this Thursday at 10am, only on Coog Radio!

The electric guitar changed music forever. Not just the sound but the style, technique and essence with which the instrument was played. Let’s face it, “Stone Cold Crazy” would not be the same without pickups and amplification. So what would you say if I told you that the person responsible for this musical marvel is […]

Check out Nothankyou’s video for “Oyster” in which Olga Bell of Dirty Projectors impersonates Tom Vek. (I’m kind of in love with the production value, too.)
