Buxton to perform as Talking Heads

Written by on August 9, 2012

It’s strangely not surprising to see Houston favorites Buxton take on the challenge of performing as the Talking Heads. Known for their unique brand of sonically progressive folk/americana, Buxton also has a knack for reimagining classic numbers into their set, covering the likes of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Paul McCartney & Wings, and even Bjork.

That being said, folk/americana is a pretty far stretch from the new-wave/post-punk sound pioneered by the Talking Heads, so there’s a lot to wonder about how band approaches the Heads’ prolific discography.

Will Austin Sepulvado or Sergio Trevino be donning oversized-gray suits? Will Chris Wise and Justin Terrell play a number as the Tom Tom Club? If those respective roles are filled, who’s Jerry Harrison, Jason Willis or Haley Barnes (I guess Jason is Alex Weir if we wanna get nerdy about it)? Will they do the iconic lamp dance?  How did I get here? How do I work this? Where is that large automobile?

There’s lots of questions to be asked, and not much is certain. All we know is that this is looking to be a show you won’t want to miss. Buxton performing as Talking Heads – August 24th at the Continental Club w/LIMB and JC & CO.
