NO SIR E, Stephen Farris, Josiah Gabriel, FLCON FCKER, + more
Written by Coog Radio on November 15, 2012
It looks we won’t have to (though we still want to, real bad). In fact, this doesn’t feel like a CR COMP fest, it practically is one. Not one, not two, but three COOG Radio Compilation contributors (Stephen Farris, Josiah Gabriel, FLCON FCKER) will be performing along side producers NO SIR E, JAY LOTUS, Babel Fishh, Crooked Teeth, Taurus, and Skeezer this Saturday, November 17th in what can only be described as a madhouse of synths (homemade or otherwise), midi-controllers, monomes, laptops, Abelton 8 (Abelton 9 if you’re crafty), fat rhymes, and FAT BEATZ, all of which will take place at .
Aside from No SIR E who comes to us from Delaware, this show is definitely a Houston showcase. Josiah Gabriel and FLCON FCKER have begun making a name for themselves in Houston, winning 2012 Houston Press Music Awards for Best Producer and Best Electronic Act, respectively. Jay Lotus and Stephen Farris aren’t new to notoriety either, with the former signing on to Singapore label Darker Than Wax and the latter garnering attention from big whigs i.e Pitchfork, Hypem, Com Truise etc. All that being said the producer scene is pretty overlooked in Houston. Call it a city who has yet to adjust to a new subset entering its zeitgeist. Call it southern politeness that keeps the scene modest and humble. Call it what you will, but let it be known. This is a Houston Showcase, and we have a lot to show.
