Kali Uchi: Why You Need to Listen to Her NOW

Written by on February 6, 2015

Imagine the vintage style of Selena mixed with the eccentric fashion of Lady GaGa, you would get the Colombian beauty known as Kali Uchi. Kali Uchi is an upcoming female artist who has caught the attention of not one, but TWO famous musicians otherwise known as Snoop Dogg and Tyler, The Creator (he’s been retweeting her new music nonstop). It’s not hard to see why, she sticks out like a sore thumb (in the BEST way possible) with her dreamy vocals and unique vibe. This Virginian native first released a mixtape called “Drunken Babble,” before even releasing her own EP. Want to listen to her earlier songs? Click on the video below.

Just this past Wednesday she released the free official download for her EP, “Por Vida” off of her website and went onto Odd Future’s station on DASH Radio to advertise it even further by talking to fellow listeners and playing some crowd favorites such as “Call Me,” “Melting,” “Lottery,” “Speed” and “Know What I Want.” So far, I’ve had her EP on replay ever since it came out and I encourage anyone who likes Jhene Aiko, SZA, or reggae/soul music to give Kali Uchi a listen.

And for those who are too lazy to listen to her whole EP completely, here’s a TL;DR in video form.

BONUS: “Never Be Yours” was the first song by Kali Uchi I heard. It’s not on her EP, but you definitely should still watch her sing a song she created on her own in 10 MINUTES. Yup, you heard me right. 10. I fell in love right away after watching this video.
