ACL Artist Spotlight: NAO
Written by Bethel Biru on September 17, 2016
Alternative R&B, neo-soul, electronic, a little bit of everything really, Neo Jessica Joshua or better known as Nao is bringing her talent to Texas this year for one of Austin’s famous music festivals – ACL.
Born in Nottingham, England, the 27-year-old singer/songwriter has been on the radar for a while but caught people’s attention even more when she dropped “Bad Blood“. Her soulful, airy octaves blending so effortlessly, people actually mistook it as auto-tune.
I worship you like holy days
Lying on my back, seeing clouds and rays
Drinking lime and bitter from my lemonade
“Bad Blood” – NAO
Nao studied vocal jazz at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and actually sang backup for Kwabs and Jarius Crocker while collaborating with other artists before dropping her debut EP in 2014 So Good. Check her out below and follow her Twitter and Instagram for updates.
If you’re attending ACL this year, you can purchase tickets here and make sure to catch Nao preform on Saturday, October 1.
