Travis Scott: Artist Spotlight

Travis Scott: THE FACE OF THE H.
There is a reason many consider Scott to be a hip-hop prodigy, and it is not just because they see him as the heir to Kanye West’s throne. Scott is not just a rapper but is a major influencer on the hip-hop scene. Indeed, Ellen DeGeneres described him as the voice of his generation.
He doubles up as an artist and a producer and has contributed to some of the greatest hip-hop projects in recent years. He was part of the production team of Kanye’s Yeezus and had a massive influence on Drake’s More Life released in 2017.
His music career has been nothing short of spectacular with his debut single starting at number three on the charts, but has since gone platinum. By far, his most successful single is “Sicko Mode,” which held the second position on the Billboards for several weeks and eventually topped in early December 2018.
Critics have hailed his third album, Astroworld, as his greatest work to date. The album combines innovation and creativity to produce a psychedelic feel of the world. It is the most definitive showcase of his production skills and the ability to mix and blend the ordinary into a beautiful product.
Just like his debut album, Rodeo released in 2015, this album blends hip-hop with other genres such as pop and indie. Even though the blending may be confounding to some, it is a refreshing departure from the dull stuff that has dominated hip-hop for years.
Scott may have earned the respect of industry veterans with his innovation, but it is on the stage where he lets go of his wild side. You can be sure to get an electrifying performance and a few surprises during his shows. His Astroworld Festival, held on the Sunday before Thanksgiving to promote his latest album, Astroworld, sold out with over 40,000 fans. Festival pictures taken by yours truly.
