Songs to Stream for Good Energy (Mini Playlist)
Written by Raquel Wood on January 11, 2022
2022 is here and the world continues to spin, sometimes seemingly way too fast. We are still facing challenges of the pandemic, a new school semester is starting for most college students, and life in general can be overwhelming. Here are six of my favorite throwback songs that help bring about good energy when feeling down.
The song is literally called Good Days, hello? This song has been on my playlist for a while but it never fails to make me feel peaceful. SZA delivers feel- good lines with a smooth voice on top of a lovely instrumental. The world feels crazy and overwhelming, but we should try to do and feel good with the experience we have in life. One of my top comfort songs.
“Gotta let go of weight, can’t keep what’s holdin’ me” – “Good Days,” Good Days (2020)
“Strawberry Swing” by Coldplay
If you are looking to escape into some music, Strawberry Swing is great just for that. I get lost within this song every time I listen to it. I always enjoy Coldplay’s immersive style and this song basically gives you a swaying hug. It has a very nostalgic vibe.
“Cold, cold water, what you say? / When it’s such a perfect day” – “Strawberry Swing,” Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008)
One of P!nk’s most iconic songs and a definite confidence boost. It’s about embracing your independent self after going through tough times and judgment. I find it very easy to get caught up in a stressful and judgmental environment, but this song will have you feeling upbeat in no time.
“So, so what? / I’m still a rock star / I got my rock moves. / And I don’t need you. / And guess what? / I’m having more fun / And now that we’re done / I’m gonna show you tonight / I’m alright / I’m just fine”- “So What,” Funhouse (2008)
“Spotlight (Oh Nostalgia)” by Patrick Stump
This is another one of my favorite tunes of encouragement. Stump is well-known for being the lead singer in Fall Out Boy, but his solo projects are also fun and interesting to listen to. “Spotlight (Oh Nostalgia)” comes from Truant Wave, an extended play that centers around a person’s interaction with societal pressures. This song is a good reminder for some self love and has an overall positive vibe to it.
“They might try to tell you how you can live your life / But don’t, don’t forget it’s your right / To do whatever you like” – “Spotlight,” Truant Wave (2011)
“Tonight Tonight” by Hot Chelle Rae
Speaking of nostalgia and 2011, this amazing song is a spirit raiser and a good roof raiser. Ranked in the top 20 of my childhood favorites. Something about the “La la la” and “Woah, oh, oh” parts are so addicting. The lyrics are all about having fun and living your life to the fullest, which I think is a good thing to focus on this year.
“And we’re dancing on the edge of the Hollywood sign/ I don’t know if I’ll make it/ But watch how good I’ll fake it”- “Tonight Tonight,” Whatever (2011)
“22 (Taylor’s Version)” by Taylor Swift
It is 2022, of course I had to add this. This song brought good energy in its original release year, but Taylor Swift brought it back stronger with her re-recording of the Red album. With that being said, be sure to listen to Taylor’s Version!
“We’re happy, free, confused / and lonely in the best way”- “22 (Taylor’s Version),” Red (Taylor’s Version) (2021)
