Dreamville’s own Bas dropped his most recent album We Only Talk About Real Shit When We’re Fucked Up back in December. The New York-raised artist is now on tour along with supporting acts Hoosh, Reuben Vincent, and Blxckie.
The first opener of the night is Sudanese artist, Hoosh. Rocking a “FREE SUDAN” shirt and full of energy Hoosh was a great way to start the night. He performed songs like “Kabasa,” “Santa Monica” and “better days.” Hoosh had a great stage presence that will only get better as he gets bigger.
Next on was Charlotte’s own Reuben Vincent. Now signed to Jay Z’s Roc Nation label, the 23-year-old has been working on his craft for some time. As soon as he hit the stage the energy of the room lifted. He interacted well with the crowd and played songs like “FUFU” and “No Problems.”
Coming from South Africa the last opener of the night was Blxckie. The Afrobeat artist brought vibes to the night. A lot of his songs have smooth RnB vocals with Afrobeat instrumentals. The crowd enjoyed the sound a lot and danced along with him. While holding a South African flag he performed songs like “Hold,” “Lose Control” and “SETE.” The diversity of sound and genre from the openers was a great way to warm up the night.
The lights dimmed and it was now time for the star of the night to hit the stage. The Sudanese artist was the first Dreamville signee and with guidance from J. Cole, he found his success. He recently dropped his fourth studio album We Only Talk About Real Shit When We Are Fucked Up with features from artists like AJ Tracey, A$AP Ferg, and J. Cole. During his set, he performed songs from his newest album like “Choppas” and “Risk.” Bas also went through his old catalog and played songs from his previous albums Milky Way and Too High To Riot.
The highlight of the night was when he performed “Passport Bros” and gave a couple of the fans a birthday shot of Caza Azul. He said “I need to check ID’s I feel like y’all running game on me” as he was pouring out the final birthday shots. They took their shots and Bas finished off his sets with some of his most popular hits like “Costa Rica”, “Tribe” and “Boca Raton.”
