On Monday, March 18, 2024, d4vd surprised Houston with a one-night-only concert at White Oak Music Hall. This show completely sold out immediately when it was announced!
The show had an intimate feeling and the crowd roared as soon as he stepped on stage. d4vd wore a black and gold durag with an all-black outfit. This show was full of raw emotion, laughter, and so much talent. The 18-year-old artist began his music career with gaming roots but with the help from social media, his biggest hit, “Romantic Homicide,” just achieved one billion streams on Spotify.
Even though he was not born in Houston he did say that he grew up here, so he claims it like his home city. He had a great live band with him that complemented his vocals and energy. He performed songs from his EP’s Petal to Thorns and The Lost Petals. Throughout the night he would interact with the crowd in a very funny way. Fans would yell “I LOVE YOU” and he would always make sure to respond. They would also give him pieces of clothing so he could wear them on stage.
It is well known that he recorded one of his biggest hits in his sister’s closet so he brought out his little sister Emily to perform alongside him. They performed “Here With Me,” and it was the cutest thing in the world to witness. She seemed so confident and proud to be singing alongside her brother. A highlight of the night was performing for the first time in Texas, his collaboration with Laufey. The song “This Is How It Feels” is a more jazz and orchestral-inspired track that made me tear up and gave me chills hearing it live.
Towards the end of his set, he performed his newest single “My House Is Not A Home” and announced that he is going on a summer tour! Even though Houston is not on one of the stops for the tour he promised the crowd that he has something much bigger planned for his hometown. d4vd then closed out his show with a crowd-suggested track “The Bridge” and “Romantic Homicide.” This show was truly beautiful to experience and make sure to catch him on his summer tour!
