Written by Martina Mondini on August 30, 2024
It’s that time of year again. Austin City Limits festival is fast approaching, and you want to be prepared. Attending a music festival can be physically demanding without the right gear, not to mention the unpredictable weather in Austin. You can’t forget to pack these essentials if you want to have the ultimate festival experience.
1. Water Bottle
Staying hydrated under the Austin sun is crucial to the experience. At the festival, there will be water stations all over the grounds. Bringing a reusable water bottle is essential to staying hydrated all day. A plastic or aluminum water bottle is fine as well. Remember to hydrate in between those sets constantly!
2. Bandana
There will be a lot of dust, all the time. A bandana or covering of any sort will be a quick fix to protect you from the dust.
3. Sunscreen
The festival allows sunscreen in non-aerosol containers in the size of 3.4 ounces or less. Be sure to reapply throughout the day, that Texas sun is no joke.
4. Comfortable Shoes
At a festival you may want to show up in your best look, but when it comes to shoes prioritize comfort. You’ll be running from set to set, walking, dancing, jumping even, so you want to be sure that you have the right shoes for your long day.
5. Hat & Sunglasses
These go hand and hand and you absolutely can’t forget them! Protecting yourself from the sun is key.
6. Portable Charger
Everyone wants to get pictures and videos of their favorite artists’ sets. With so many artists to see a portable charger will come in handy. You’ll want to have enough battery to get yourself to and from the festival safely.
7. Ear Plugs
Any concert enthusiast knows that protecting your hearing is the priority. Whether you are right on the barricade by the stage and speakers, or in the middle or back of the crowd, earplugs will protect your hearing while still allowing you to hear the music perfectly. There are lots of styles out there that will get the job done. Avoid the crazy ringing in your ears after the festival and get some earplugs!
8. Ponchos
Texas weather is unpredictable. One second the sun will be shining and the next a downpour of rain can come out of nowhere. Ponchos are a great option in case it rains. You can fold them up after using and you won’t have to worry about carrying something heavier like a jacket.
9. A Small or Clear Bag
For any other essentials you want to bring, you’ll want a bag to fit them into. This is the festival’s full bag policy.
10. A Blanket
With all the fun you’ll be having there will come a time when you’ll want a moment of rest. Be sure to bring a blanket to sit on for when you grab food or for when you’re watching a set in the distance.
Most importantly, don’t forget your festival wristbands! They will be your entrance into the grounds. Now you’re ready for Austin City Limits festival!
