Freaky Deaky Artist Spotlight: Porter Robinson
Written by Parnia Razi on October 17, 2018
Porter Robinson, an American producer and DJ from North Carolina, has been hitting big stages around the world over the last few years. In 2014, he released his debut album Worlds, which would end up changing his life and touching many others around the globe. The album, which was in collaboration with well-established producer Madeon, hit massive success and helped Robinson get his name out and begin playing live sets for all different types of festivals. With an incredible live performance to go with this magical album, his fan base grew, and new music by Robinson was much anticipated after Worlds. While there was quite a wait, fans were astounded by Robinson’s newest project under the alter ego Virtual Self, released last year.
Virtual Self contrasted with Worlds by revealing a darker, more underground-house and disco sound, as Robinson produces something entirely original and like nothing you’ve heard before. Virtual Self hit festival stages across the country this year, in addition to Robinson’s own tour for the project, which just wrapped up last week. Although fans have been lining up for Virtual Self, Robinson also stays true to his well-loved and famous sets from Worlds, and lucky for us he’s playing a live set here in Houston this fall!
Robinson’s sets are famous for emotional drops, high energy, and lots of confetti – you won’t want to miss the chance to see him perform this brilliant live set at Freaky Deaky Festival this Halloween weekend at Sam Houston Racetrack. He’ll performing alongside other electronic legends like Kaskade, Excision, DJ Snake, and more.
