Doja Cat is a popularly known American songwriter, rapper, singer as well as record producer. The artist whose real name is Amala Zandile Dlamini hails from Los Angeles. Her roots, that came from an artistic family, laid a concrete foundation for her future career in the music industry. Her career began in the year 2013 when she released a single “So High.” Doja Cat, however, did not get recognition or popularity until March the following year after signing to the RCA Records and releasing her EP titled Purrr!
Doja Cat continued to write and produce more music via YouTube and Soundcloud after she came into the limelight. The YouTube and Sound Cloud productions gained more attention and thus began forming a concrete fan base. Apart from her solo productions, she started making collaborations with the likes of the Hellboy, Skoolie Escobar, Frumhere and Elliphant. The big names helped her to further rise in the music industry, and thus, 2018 was the absolute turning point of the artist as she had the honor of featuring in L8LOOMER’s single.
Doja Cat’s star shone brightly in the year 2018 when she produced two singles “Roll with Us,” and the “Go to Town.” The artist went ahead to release the video of the second song on the same day as the audio. YouTube was helpful in her rise to fame as it was the platform where she was channeling all her new productions. The song “Go To Town” had 10.82 million views at the start of March 2019. The 2018 production was a key milestone in her career as “Mooo!” appeared as a meme and was a key milestone in her future as it drew attention from some of the most prominent artists such as Chris Brown. Currently, the song has more than thirty-five million views. Her most recent project is Amala, which was released this month.
