Clairo Is Bringing Immunity to Houston!

Claire Cottrill, better known as Clairo, became an internet sensation last year after her hit song “Pretty Girl” went viral. She also has another alias, DJ Baby Benz, under which she’s created mixes that you can check out here! Clairo dropped her first EP titled Dairy 001, which featured hit songs like “Flaming Hot Cheetos” and “4ever“. Clairo grew a cult following after this release, and was later featured on other artists’ projects like SG Lewis’s Dawn EP, Wallows’s Nothing Happens, and the Skate Kitchen soundtrack.
Immunity is Clairo’s debut album, and it certainly didn’t disappoint with personal lyrics and amazing production by Peter Cottontale and Rostam. The intro track, “Alewife,” tells the story of Clairo’s friend saving her life one horrible night. The song seems to be a thank you letter to her and, according to her Paper Magazine interview, a way to get those emotions out. Another stand out song, “Sinking,” is a slow yet smooth track that deserves its own spotlight. “Sinking” is about Clairo’s battle with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, a condition she had since she was 17. In a Pitchfork interview she states that it about dealing with pain which is what she goes through dealing with her condition.
Think of things I can’t do or haven’t done
And does it make me weak?
Sometimes I feel like I can’t breathe
Clairo is an artist I look forward to watching progress, as I feel her potential is limitless. Her lyrics can help someone out there dealing with a similar situation.
