Chicago-Based Rock Band Beach Bunny to Perform in Houston this December

Written by on November 17, 2021

Beach Bunny is an indie rock band from Chicago that formed in 2015. Current members include lead singer Lili Trifilio, drummer Jon Alvarado, guitarist Matt Henkels, and bassist Anthony Vaccaro. Originally, Beach Bunny started off as Trifilio’s bedroom-pop solo endeavor and self-released EPs like Animalism in 2015, Pool Party in 2016 and Crybaby in 2017.

After Trifilio released those works on her own, she added bandmates to her project and eventually released the hit EP Prom Queen in 2018. This EP features the title track “Prom Queen” that went viral on TikTok months after its release. This allowed the band to rise to fame, and even re-released their Prom Queen and Crybaby EPs as a compilation album in 2019. Beach Bunny released their debut album, called Honeymoon, in 2020, where they found themselves the creators of yet another viral TikTok track called “Cloud 9.” Their debut album is riddled with climactic moments and melancholic narratives that fit well with the band’s natural rock/punk sound. It brings together all of their sounds from the earlier days and features songs about heartbreak like “Promises,” along with thrilling bops like “Cuffing Season.”

After seeing success with their debut album, they announced their new EP, called Blame Game, in November 2020, and released its first single, “Good Girls (Don’t Get Used)” along with the announcement. Blame Game was a collection of four songs, but the songs all intertwine together to tackle the issues of victim blaming and harassment.

Most recently, Beach Bunny was featured on a remix with electropop Welsh singer, MARINA, called “I Love You But I Love Me More,” from her album Ancient Dreams In a Modern Land. The breakup anthem is a dark take on MARINA’s heartbreak and anger, something Beach Bunny is familiar with. The band also released a stand-alone single called “Oxygen,” which introduces Beach Bunny’s new galactic and space-themed aesthetic, right before the start of their upcoming 2021 North American Tour.

Beach Bunny will set on a North American Tour this upcoming winter starting on November 16th in Atlanta. The band will make their way down to Houston’s White Oak Music Hall on December 13th with opener Miloe. Beach Bunny continues to climb their way to fame, and everyone should check out this up & coming band. Take the opportunity to see them live and buy your tickets here.
