Autumn in the City Playlist
Written by Jenny Truong on October 11, 2022
October, the month of coziness and change, has finally arrived. Houston weather is unpredictable, but we can pretend it’s already nice and chilly! Here’s a playlist for an autumn stroll in the city.
Landslide – Fleetwood Mac
First, we have to begin the season of change with a bittersweet song about it. Let Stevie Nicks’ voice comfort you as you think about the oncoming changes of autumn! Change is good, but you’re also allowed to be sad about it.
Tis Autumn – The King Cole Trio
Some of you may say “I was born in the wrong generation”. So here’s a good vintage song to celebrate autumn. Released in 1949, this song is perfect with a sharp coffee in hand.
The Adults Are Talking – The Strokes
An upbeat song to make walking in Houston more fun! You could do a little dance while you wait to cross the street. I know I would.
October – Alessia Cara
Next, this is a pop song for the pop girlies. Alessia Cara hopes to never see October in this song, but the rest of us do. This song makes driving through the city all the more pleasant.
Piledriver Waltz – Arctic Monkeys
For those of us who were raised on Tumblr, this song dominated our autumns. Walking to the beat of this song makes me so happy. What’s more, Arctic Monkeys is returning with a new album this month, so there will be much more of them to add to your autumn playlist!
California Dreamin’ – The Mamas & The Papas
Another older, yet upbeat song. All the leaves may be brown, but we’re allowed to miss the sunny California-like weather. Add this song to your playlist for a fun, ’60s vibe.
Amoeba – Clairo
If you’re looking for something more subdued, Clairo does subdued super well. Pop this song in your headphones! It’ll be a great soundtrack to run errands in the city to.
Fade Into You – Mazzy Star
Let’s end the playlist with a slow song. Mazzy Star never fails to make cozy songs, and this one is no different. If you’re looking for something to listen to while you drink something warm, this is it.
