Keshi Comes Home for the Last Date of the Hell & Back Tour

Keshi finishes off his world tour in his hometown with an outstanding show at 713 Music Hall.

Casey Luong, also known as Keshi, is the Houston based singer/songwriter from the streets of Sugarland, Texas. While he’s produced music since he was 13, he rose to fame during the COVID-19 pandemic with his iconic EP trilogy titled Skeletons, Bandaids, and Always after signing with Island Records. He has been a staple in the Houston community, and his appearances in the scene have definitely come full circle. The last performance he had in Houston was last summer at the House of Blues. Now, we saw him bring his tunes to one of Houston’s bigger venues, 713 Music Hall.

The first opener was the eclectic James Ivy. Ivy is an up-and-coming Korean-American singer who tagged along the Hell & Back tour since the start of the North American Run. The crowd was immediately hooked because of his stage presence, and he interacted with audiences by getting them to sing a long to the chorus of tracks like “Pushin’ Through It” and “Last Star.”

Up next was No Rome, the Filipino musician from London who is current signed to Dirty Hit (label for artists like The 1975, Rina Sawayama, and Wolf Alice). No Rome acknowledge the Asian-American lineup on the tour and took pride in Filipino culture, which led to fans to cheer loudly. His setup was very ominous, which fit the vibe of his chillwave songs like “Issues (After Dark)” and “I Want U.” He also played an unreleased track, along with the track he claimed to be about his favorite color called “Pink.” Everyone jumped high during the song, which made No Rome leave the stage with a huge smile on his face.

The venue was packed full of fans and anticipation as Keshi was set to close out the night and tour. The house lights dimmed and everyone yelled at the top of their lungs. The Houston Singer came out with a force, singing to all fans at 713MH and expressing true gratitude for performing in his hometown. After playing opening tracks “GET IT,” “less of you” and “SOMEBODY,” he paused to tell Houston that he felt refreshed after getting to sleep in his own bed the night before. Throughout the night, he mentioned how he wrote a lot of his discography in our beloved city, which felt more intimate as he performed them live.

Keshi was energetic throughout the night, as he sprinted all over the stage. Fans were jumping up and down, even in the balcony/seated areas. The pop singer was more than happy to see everyone sing along to all the newer/older songs, as he kept acknowledging the crowd’s volume. Keshi’s World Tour ended in Houston, and hopefully his well-needed time at home can result in him writing new tracks.
