Nite Jewel’s down-tempo take on “All I Want for Christmas is You” makes a point to revel in the quieter moments of love during wintertime: standing underneath the mistletoe, night-time drives to your boo’s crib on Christmas Eve, etc. Lush with warm synthesizers and Ramona Gonzalez’s gentle but commanding voice, this cover carries its own, ringing just as soulful as the Mariah Carey original without the implications of a Macy’s Christmas ad or the over-com of pretty much any retail store during the holidays.
