Concert Review: Pity Sex at Walters Downtown
Written by Coog Radio on June 25, 2016
On Tuesday night, Pity Sex graced Houston as part of their White Hot Moon album tour. Queer-punk band, PWR BTTM and indie heart throbs, Petal lubricated the crowd for a beautifully distressed performance. The four piece was like a time travel back into 90s indie-alternative. Sweet and falsetto vocals by Brittany Drake balanced like yin and yang with the non-nonchalant style of second vocalist, Brennan Greaves amongst noisy guitar riffs that would make you want to grab your flannel and join a band.
Pity Sex dished out newer tunes such as the hopelessly sad and romantic “What Might Soothe You?” as well as beloved songs like “Drown Me Out” and “Coca Cola” from their successful debut album Dark World. With alternative and post-punk aesthetic thriving, its for sure that Pity Sex has it in the bag and that H-Town can’t wait for them to return and break our hearts all over again.
