Album Review: Guilt Trips

Written by on October 25, 2013

Producer Ryan Hemsworth’s new full-length LP is a solid, smooth and cool atmospheric album from start to finish. Regardless of whether your definition of “chill” stems from downtempo ambient sounds to dark bass-filled trap like XXYYXX, there is something for you on this album. From the dark, trippy opening track “Small + Lost” to the bass-led “Weird Life” and the heavily atmospheric rap track featuring Haleek Maul and Kitty, you’ll be wishing you were in a basement watching a star projector or cruising down 59 at night with a car full of friends.

However my favorite track is definitely “Still Cold” featuring vocals from Baths. Not only did this song pick me up to the point where I was waving my hands in the air like I was performing the song, but like, man, VOCALS BY BATHS.
Seriously, if you like any form of electronic music, give this a listen. You’ll thank yourself, me, and the repeat button.

Take a listen to “Still Cold.”
