5 Songs That Will Get You Out of Bed!

Written by on February 6, 2015

If you’re reading this, congratulations, you’ve survived the first three weeks of the spring semester—and if you’re anything like me, you’re already looking forward to spring break, summer break or any other stretch of time that doesn’t require you to leave your bed (read: put on pants that don’t belong to a pajama set). To fight this early-semester slump, scroll through for a list of tracks that are sure to motivate you to finish those reading assignments—or at least give you that extra kick to put on real clothes.

Hoodie Allen – “All About It” feat. Ed Sheeran

“All About It” appeared as the fifth track on Hoodie’s debut studio album, “People Keep Talking.” This song has everything a tired college student needs to put some pep in their day—a funky beat laced with horns, a catchy hook, Hoodie effortlessly riding the wave and Ed Sheeran sing-rapping a “Drake hand” reference.

Vanic – “Make Me Fade” feat. K. Flay

Known for his remixes, electronic music DJ, Vanic hails from Vancouver, British Columbia. Earlier this year, Vanic unleashed his talent on female emcee, K. Flay’s “Make Me Fade” from her 2014 studio album “Life as a Dog.” Vanic morphs Flay’s laid back tune into an infectious, up-tempo party song with a dubstep build-up and drop that’s just as energizing as your venti lattes.

Machine Gun Kelly – “Till I Die”

You might remember MGK and his 2011 single “Wild Boy”. Well, he’s back with this J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League produced banger. “Till I Die” boasts a beat dripping with bass and features verses that will bring out your best head bang. MTV co-signed this song, so you know it has some merit. Put this on your playlist and spice up your morning commute.

Mac Miller – “Insomniak” feat. Rick Ross

“Insomniak” comes from Mac’s 2014 mixtape “Faces.” An unlikely pair, Mac and Rick Ross come together here to create a track complete with vibrating bass notes, great one-liners and a D’Angelo snippet. If you find that it’s not your cup of tea, at least the song’s title will resonate with you.

Snakehips – “Gone” feat. Syd

UK production and DJ duo Snakehips teamed up with The Internet’s Syd Bennett to craft “Gone”. The song flawlessly blends electronic wobbles and soft R&B vocals. A surefire way to get your shoulders jumping, this track will make those Friday classes seem a little less awful.
