Deftones Rile Up Fans With Major Announcements

Written by on January 27, 2016

What an exciting past few days it has been for Deftones fans.

First, the alternative metal band revealed the new album drop date. Said album has been in the works and supposedly was to be released last September. Clearly, the album is going to be so good since an extension was called for.

Finally, guitarist Stephen Carpenter confirmed in an interview that the release date is set for April 8.

The upcoming album will be the band’s eighth full-length album, with the latest released in 2012.

Rumors have been flying for some time now, and things started getting very specific, going into great detail such as the name of the album and the track listings. According to those allegations, the album was to be titled Gore and the first three songs were “Prayers/Triangles,” “Acid Hologram” and “Doomed User.” Lead singer Chino Moreno responded to these by hilariously tweeting “potential” (?) visuals on Monday, which lead me to think he is trolling fans.

So I have a hunch Gore is not the upcoming album title, unless of course he is trying to throw us off his trail.

Nonetheless, there is a new album, and that’s all that matters, right?

Secondly, brace yourselves if you haven’t already heard- they are gracing Texas with their presence this coming March.

That’s right. On Monday, the dates were released after much anticipation.

Deftones will do a 5-stop Texas trip as part of the current tour this March.

Here are the dates:

March 16: Never Say Never Festival: Mission, TX

March 20: South Side Ballroom Dallas, TX

March 22: Revention Music Center Houston, TX

March 24: Lonestar Pavilion: Lubbock TX

So on the third Tuesday of March, Deftones will be performing at Houston’s  Revention Music Center.

Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m.
