Austin and SXSW Music welcomed the annual festival and live TV event, The MTV Woodies/10 For 16 for another star-studded lineup on Wednesday, March 17.
A 4-hour long pre-show festival included artists such as Kehlani, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, A$AP Ferg, CHVRCHES, and more. Oakland-born R&B singer and songwriter Kehlani opened the festival with performances of her hit songs “You Should Be Here” and “Did I.” Anderson .Paak, who has work with Dr. Dre and others, came on stage with a fiery set of hits song to woo the audience under the beating Texas sun. A$AP Ferg brought an insane amount of energy to the Woodies stage with performances off his hit mixtape, Trap Lord. BØRNS, CHVRCHES, Jack Garratt, Jidenna, and Lukas Graham all took the stage as well to perform great hits and show Austin mad love. A personal favorite was Jidenna’s upbeat set with his spunky hype man all suited up and ready to dance for 30 minutes straight.
The main show, hosted by A$AP Rocky, began at 8 p.m. on the dot and featured repeat performances by all of the festival headliners. Appearances by Pusha T, Aaron Paul, and Nessa were made throughout the course of the day. To top off the night, The Chainsmokers closed out the live show with their hit single “Roses,” followed by an 8-song set for all audience members who had stuck around the festival grounds for the entirety of the event.
