Written by Parnia Razi on November 16, 2017
Pretty Lights is an American electronic music producer, often called and known as the “face and voice of a new American electronic scene.” Over the last decade, the EDM and rave scenes have been re-vamped and again became a major part of American youth culture, and Pretty Lights has played his own role in creating this new scene.
In the early 2000s, he starting making original music and in 2010 he gained mainstream attention by playing at large festivals like Coachella and Ultra. He has now also played at Bonnaroo, Camp Bisco, EDC, and more, making him a seasoned and well-known live DJ. His live sets are known for cross-sampling across many different genres, and he has played along artists like Bassnectar and GRiZ. Even in his own music, Pretty Lights is known for ranging from glitchy hip-hop, to heavy synth, to vintage funk and soul. There’s something for everyone in Pretty Light’s music, and his high energy and bright lasers during his sets make it even more thrilling.
Pretty Lights will be playing here in our own city at Houston’s Day for Night Festival this year, bringing his exciting rave energy to the festival’s diverse lineup. Click here to buy tickets to Day for Night and view the rest of the exciting lineup, and check out the Pretty Lights Soundcloud below.
