Inner Wave Brings the Jukebox Tour to Houston

Written by on March 6, 2023

After three months of opening for Foals on their Life is Yours tour at the end of 2022, Inner Wave set out on their very own headlining tour in February of this year. Opening for the band on the Jukebox tour are alternative artists Jordana and Junior Mesa. On February 25, 2023, all the three performers brought an amazing live experience to White Oak Music Hall in Houston, Tx.

Junior Mesa started the night off on a high note around 8:00 pm. The artist and his band provided Houston with a super passionate and upbeat performance with songs like “Losing My Grip” and “Caroline,” a track that has yet to be released. The set concluded after about thirty minutes, leaving everyone energized for what was next to come.

Next to take the stage was Jordana. The singer’s voice was extremely sweet and soft. Many were bopping their heads to her music as she played some of her most popular songs including a few from her album with TV Girl, Summer’s Over. The performance was about forty-five minutes and the audience loved every second of it. Before exiting, she had the crowd laughing when she took a small Gumby figurine from her mic stand and held it up for everyone to see.

After two great sets, the crowd was getting ready for Inner Wave. About thirty minutes later, the lights on stage started to pulse and anticipation grew even higher. As they continued to strobe, the main act had arrived and everyone started going crazy. Taking the stage was bassist Jean Pierre Narvaez, drummer Luis Portillo, keyboardist Chris Runner, lead singer and guitarist Pablo Soltelo, and Elijah Trujillo on keys and guitar as well. Once everyone was set up, the band opened with Take 3 and the night was incredible from there.

The band played songs from all across their discography and sounded exactly like the recordings. From songs like “Bower,” “Fever,” and “American Spirits,” everything and everyone was on point. Soltelo’s guitar solos and Narvaez’s cool bass lines were probably some of my favorite things from the performance. Jordana even came back out to sing her newest song with the band , “Baby.” From there, the band played some more songs and then promptly left the stage after thanking the crowd. The show seemed to be over, but the audience was left wanting more.

The crowd was cheering and chanting, wanting them to come back out. Moments later, the group returned to the stage for an encore. They played a few more songs including “142” and “Song 3.” As the night came to end, everyone applauded the performance. Inner Wave gave fans a euphoric night full of great music and dancing.
