Review: Rosalía and Rauw Alejandro Release Joint EP “RR”

Written by on March 27, 2023

Two of the biggest staples in the Latin music world released three new tracks, along with announcing their engagement.

Ever since they confirmed their relationship in September of 2021, Spanish singer Rosalía and Puerto Rican singer Rauw Alejandro have become one of Latin music’s favorite couples. The couple have finally released their first collaborative work together called RR (assuming it stands for Rosalía and Rauw), which debuted three new songs: “BESO,” “Vampiros” and “Promesa.”

Previously, the pair have worked together on projects with eachother: Rosalía provided vocals for Rauw’s tracks like “Dile a Él” and “Corazón Despeinado,” while Rauw helped co-write songs in her critically acclaimed album Motomami. It was finally time that fans got to see something they wrote and recorded together.

RR is a collection of songs capture the passionate feeling and intimate emotions the couple feels for each other – a trek through their romantic journey as lovers and performers. In “BESO,” the duo have a casual conversation about how much they mean to one another despite the distance and time away from each other. Rosalía and Rauw Alejandro sing:

Y si tú me espera’, (if you wait for me)
El tiempo puedo doblar (time can bend)
El cielo puedo amarrar (the skies, I can tie)
Y dártelo entero (and give it you whole)

They continue this ride through their feelings with the reggaeton track “Vampiros,” which captures the musical influences from both sides and creates a high-energy fusion. They end the EP by taking it down a notch with “Promesa,” where they profess their love in an intimate form through lyrics.

RR is a beautiful recollection of their romance, and it’s good to see that they are taking it to the next level. In their music video for “BESO” (which features clips since the start of their relationship), they announced their engagement towards the end, where Rosalía is tearing up as she wears a ring, followed by a heartfelt “Te Amo” as Rauw leans in to kiss her. This is only the start of their musical partnership, as fans hope for more collaborations between the pair in the future.

While Rosalía is currently playing multiple festivals around the world, Rauw Alejandro will make an appearance at Houston’s Toyota Center on April 14th as part of the Saturno World Tour – you can get your tickets here.
