My Summer 2023 Playlist

Written by on August 3, 2023

As the summer is ending, I wanted to share ten songs that have been on repeat for the summer. A variety of old songs, new songs, and different genres have shared the summer vibe. Whether it was blasting the playlist in the car or just getting ready to go out, here are my top ten songs from this summer.

1.) Don’t Say Love- Leigh-Anne

Don’t Say Love Official Lyric Video- Leigh-Anne

Leigh-Anne is back with a summer pop song! The Little Mix star is standing in her spotlight, after taking a break and enjoying motherhood, the world missed the UK artist’s vocals. This song gave me a certain nostalgia and joy and can not wait for more music she brings to the world.

2.) Sweet Dreams- La Bouche

Sweet Dreams- La Bouche

An oldie but a goodie! The house genre song was a hit in the Nineties but has recently gained recognition through TikTok with the duo’s song “Be My Lover.” During the summer I love listening to House/EDM music and I could not forget to mention a classic that has put me in the groove these past few months!

3.) Baianá- Bakermat

Baianá- Bakermat

The Portuguese song produced by Dutch DJ Bakermat hit the TikTok platform and became a popular song towards the end of last year during the 2022 World Cup and most of this year. The song was actually made three years ago but earned its recognition this year. When listening to songs that I do not know the language, I listen to the beat and the vibe and if I like it, I am won over. This song has me hooked!

4.) Cruel Summer- Taylor Swift

Cruel Summer- Taylor Swift

The American popstar has the world in her hands as she is on her world tour, The Eras Tour, lasting all the way until next year, showing all her music work from the country teen to the modern woman she is now. Taylor has a song for everyone and every occasion and this song is a summer anthem to add to your list.

5.) Sprinter- Central Cee X Dave

Sprinter- Central Cee X Dave

Overseas, the United Kingdom have their rap anthem for the summer. The song has gone worldwide, its catchy beat and summer vibe has everyone singing. It is a very catchy song and perfect for those tropical days.

6.) Smooth Operator- Sade

Smooth Operator- Sade

The UK legend Sade has made her mark on Gen Z. “Smooth Operator” is a classic and has found its way back on the charts this year while her song has made its way on TikTok. I have been listening to the song during the summer but also at any time of the year. Sade’s voice is one of a kind and she will also receive her flowers from more generations to come.

7.) All Nighter- Tiësto

All Nighter- Tiësto

Europe dominates the EDM scene and Tiësto the Dutch DJ proves that. The song brings the world together to have a good time. My good friend actually showed me this song, and I have been hooked ever since. Going to the Tomorrowland Festival is on my bucket list and hope to share the same energy this song brings me.

8.) Caramel- 5 Seconds of Summer

Caramel- 5 Seconds of Summer

The Australian group released their self-titled album last year, and are currently on tour. The once teenage heartthrob boys are now men and are showing that in their new music. 5 Seconds of Summer will be here in Houston on September 9th at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, you should be there, I know I will be!

9.) By The End Of The Night- Ellie Goulding

By The End Of The Night- Ellie Goulding

The English singer is back with some more pop hits to hit the charts! Ellie Goulding released her new album Higher Than Heaven back in April. The angelic voice is recognizable in any song and it is always catchy! I have enjoyed this song ever since I discovered it on the radio.

10.) Calm Down- Rema

Calm Down- Rema

Last but certainly not least is “Calm Down” by Rema. This song has been trending for over a year and it has not stopped for one bit. The song also has a remix with Selena Gomez, which gained the rest of the world’s attention. The Nigerian singer has a bright future behind him and can not wait to hear more songs from him.
