6LACK: Since I Have A Lover Tour Review

Written by on November 1, 2023

Atlanta RnB star 6lack sold out the Bayou Music Center for his Since I Have A Lover Tour alongside St. Louis rising artist Jordan Ward

As the doors opened for the Houston crowd, fans were serenaded by ambient music with purple lighting and a stage full of different shrubs of flowers. Hailing from St. Louis and a previous dancer for artists like Beyonce and Becky G, Ward was here to entertain. Starting off his set with “Lil Baby Crush” and “OkOk (Hibachi)“, Ward brought the bouncy tunes so the crowd could dance along.

As soon as I stepped off the bus I knew [Houston] was different.

Jordan Ward

You could see Ward dancing with his DJ as well as signing white Crocs for a fan in honor of his song “WHITE CROCS”. The rapper ended his playful set with songs like “CHERIMOYA” and “FAMJAM4000”. Jordan Ward is an artist whose music has been co-signed by stars like Tyler, The Creator and Smino. If you like bouncy, groovy, and fun music Jordan Ward is a must.

After the wonderful opener and some more ambient music to set the mood it was finally time for 6lack to hit the stage. Lights dimmed, stage visuals lit up, then the man of the hour came out. With his cap on and a red two-piece outfit, 6lack rocked the stage all night. He started off with songs from the most recent album like “Cold Feet”, “Inwood Hill Park”, and “Talkback”. 6lack is a natural on stage and knows how to keep people entertained.

6lack is an artist whose sound is like no other, a mix of R&B and rap alike. He popped into the scene with the project FREE 6LACK and followed up with the stellar album East Atlanta Love Letter. In March, the rapper released his third album Since I Have A Lover with features by QUIN, Don Toliver, and Wale.

If you my day ones out your ones up.

6lack also went through a couple of songs of his older work. Songs like “Let Her Go”, “Know My Rights” and “Free” had his fans roaring back the lyrics to him. 6lack is also known for his features across different genres, he performed fan favorites like “OTW”, “Imported”, and even brought back out Jordan Ward to perform their song “MUSTARD”.

To wrap up the show, 6lack thanked the Houston crowd for rocking with him throughout the night and finished with “Pretty Little Fears” as well as a stripped-back version of “Since I Have A Lover”. 6lack and Jordan Ward are continuing their tour across the states, so catch them if you can!
