On November 9, 2023, Jamaican R&B singer Sean Kingston will be headlining the homecoming concert, along with student band, Orion 224. Kingston is an artist known for his many global hits, such as “Beautiful girls,” “Fire Burning” and “Eenie Meenie” featuring Justin Bieber. However, these hits peaked over a decade ago, and a lot of UH students are acknowledging that.

As the student program board announced the headliner of their concert on their Instagram page, many people were disappointed in the comment section. A lot of students are saying that this year‘s homecoming concert will be a downgrade in comparison to Young Nudy’s concert, who put on a satisfying performance at the campus last year.

Nonetheless, Sean Kingston is more than capable of putting on a show for everyone to enjoy, as his golden hits from the early 2000s can bring a nostalgic experience to the ears of UH students. With the possibility that Kingston could bring out his greatest hits to sing along to and maybe even a surprise guest, it is way too early to shut down what could be a great homecoming experience.
