Concert Review: Big Gigantic at the House of Blues

Last night the House of Blues featured one of the most amazing artists this generation has seen. Big Gigantic, known for their jazzy-electronic sound, blasted the audience with a spectacular show. They were introduced onto the stage with the help of Shallou, another live performance focused artist. Shallou started off the excitement by playing his hit, “You and Me” as well as a rendition of Odesza’s song “Sun Models”. For those who don’t know Shallou, the Washington D.C. native has embedded himself with the Indie-electronic scene. His music offers a very relaxing and entertaining groove. His performances are unlike the common electronic artist, he performs his sets with the help of live instruments, which electrify the audience with his happy/sad genre of music. He was the perfect opener for Big Gigantic, the crowd loved him and he set the perfect stage for the headliner.

I don’t even know where to start with Big Gigantic, breathtaking and stunning might be a beginning. Their sets, like always incorporates such a variety and strong emphases on their livetronica-jazz roots. Starting off, they performed “Brighter Future” and wow, I’ve never seen a crowd so up and ready to be blown away. Of course with their songs, everyone is ready and dying to hear that sexy sax solo. Their riveting performance brought chills to the audience. The show was constantly invigorating, their set flowed perfectly with the help the perfect song choices. They played their remix of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s song “Can’t Hold Us”, “Got the Love” and ended with “All of me”. Thankfully, we were gifted with an encore, and it was spectacular. In it, were the songs “Little Things”, “C’mon”, “Sky High” and a few more to count. Big Gigantic is an artist to remember, to love, and to enjoy. Their live performance gave the audience the taste of their drive and dream for their music. Even if you missed it now, there will always be a chance to see them again and be sure you make it.
