SXSW: Small Venue = Big Party

Wednesday night for SXSW had much more going on than the previous night, and the crowds were forming early at almost every door.  The Roosevelt Room, which is on the smaller scale for venue size, was no exception. The show was started off by Kydd Jones who immediately got the crowd going with dope lyrics and free tacos.

His set was followed by Buggs Tha Rocka, who kept right on going with the same amount of energy as Kydd. The whole venue was bumping and although there were seats throughout, almost everyone was on their feet. By this time all the tacos had been eaten and the crowd was still hungry for some lyricism.

Following Buggs was Lucki Eck$, a northern rapper who brought his Chicago flow to the streets of Austin. More and more spectators were trickling in at this point and Lucki Eck$ made sure to keep them listening. Even with the short set times, the performers were killing it.

Perhaps it was on purpose, but at this point it was like Chicago had taken over the Roosevelt Room. Ace Boogie hopped on stage next and delivered another great set. On top of that, he spit some lyrics a cappella style which really got the crowd going.

My night ended with the energized performance of Sabo from Pivot Gang. As if the crowd was not already pumped, Sabo took it to a whole other level. Jumping on the speakers and constantly getting crowd participation, he easily stole the entire show.
