To say that Bryan Adams transported his admirers to a magical place filled with unconditional love and passion would be a tremendous understatement. Even larger one would be that Bryan Adams is a living-legend. The music icon celebrated the 30th anniversary of his classic album, ‘Reckless,’ the best way a rock star knows how: a nation-wide tour that kicked off in Houston. Last Saturdays’ show not only proved that Bryan Adams’ musical talent is powerful, never-ending, and capable of leaving all in tears of awe and admiration; but also confirmed that the ‘Reckless’ rock star still has ‘it.’
Bryan Adams has dedicated his entire life to the art of music and has shown that being ‘Reckless’ comes with a prize. Last weekend, people of all ages gathered at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion to celebrate the talent and existence of Bryan Adams; a rock super star whose musical career stretches over the thirty years he is currently celebrating with the ‘Reckless’ album. Life has taken Adams in, what seems to be, a never-ending tour that has extended far beyond the imaginations of many, allowing him to sing his heart out to fans across the world. This proved strong during Adams first night out on the road with ‘The Reckless Tour’ when the iconic super star performed a longer-than-usual set list that included songs from his most recent works to his long-time classics. Only the best is expected from the Canadian rock star and his powerful, rough vocals, that have lead him to a life full of success with over 100 million records sold in his thirty plus years of career that thus makes him one of the world’s best-selling musicians.
Adams still carries a young vibe that allows fans of all ages to relate to him in a more intimate way. The performer sang all of the classics and gave the illusion that the setting was during the ‘Summer of ‘69’ where troubles were absent and nothing but music, a partner to love, and Adams’ guitar existed. The rock star was playful and welcoming. Wearing black from head-to-toe; he more than often smiled and threw in a couple of jokes accompanied with curse words, of course, to soothe the already tense environment. Tense is another understatement. But, it was a good type of tense in the sense that very few knew how to react with the mixing of anxiety and nervousness surrounding the enchanting night. The show was epic. Adams began with his song ‘Reckless’ and with very minimal introduction continued the set list.
One after another, Adams would transition from guitar to guitar always keeping the show going. Hit after hit, everyone identified with at least one of his songs. People danced while others clapped, some jumped while others screamed, and many cried while others kissed. There was too much going on at once; all one could do was stare in admiration of Adams’ caliber and talent, which transcends beyond the microphone, guitar, and harmonica. The harmonica he used only during the last song, ‘All For Love,’ the most powerful one of the night.
Before ‘All For Love,’ the band and Adams had left the stage, yet nobody in the audience moved. Audience members remained, therefore Adams returned solo. The singer sang a couple of songs a Capella with nothing but his acoustic guitar and invited fans to raise their cell phone lights during ‘All For Love;’ creating an ocean of bright lights that echoed the beautiful night sky. Just like that, in the blink of an eye, the Canadian legend told Houstonians they “had been wonderful,” bowed three times, waved good-bye, and walked off stage with the object that started it all and made him a legend: his guitar.
Bryan Adams’, ‘The Reckless Tour,’ continues to move across the US with Live Nation through August of 2015.
