Artist Spotlight: Jordan Gable

Colorful and sarcastic are a few words that could describe Jordan Gable.
The 22-year-old singer-songwriter is based from Nashville, Tennessee, who began his journey soon after high school graduation by packing up his bags and taking with him the little money he had. A native to Ohio, Gable knew he had to be make this leap, “I didn’t care where I ended up, I just needed out of Akron – that place was toxic for me,” said Gable and since then he has been defining himself and his music career.
“I tried a lot of things when I was younger. Music seemed to be the one thing that stuck for me,” Gable revealed on how he discovered that music was the path for him. His performance schedule is a little sporadic at the moment and as of late he’s been performing frequent in the cities of Los Angeles, Nashville, and New York City. It’s almost every artists’ dream to play around the world, however, Gable admitted, “I simply just want to play for people that love the songs I’m writing. I could say I’d love to play in Paris but if nobody there cared about the songs…I’d much rather go play in Wisconsin for one person that lives for the songs.” He produces pop and very catchy tunes and admits he is one of the biggest Beatles fans you’ll ever meet, “I love music from the 60s. I try to have fun with my lyrics and I enjoy incorporating sarcasm,” said Gable. Other artists who are most crucial to Gable’s sound include Burt Bacharach, Hall & Oates, Jellyfish, Big Star and Rooney.
In the last year, his breakout single “In My Head” garnered much attention from the public by having it premiered on Nylon and was featured inside clothing stores such as Hollister Co. “It was confusing for me but I was obviously very happy,” said Gable when asked about his initial thoughts on the success of the single, “…I wrote the song and produced it with my friends and some of the biggest companies started backing it.”
If there’s one thing you should know about Gable is that he’s not a trend follower – besides following trends tends to get boring really fast, “I just want to make the music I want to hear,” said Gable and further explained, “plus, there are too many incredible artists and I don’t feel like competing.”
In the meantime Gable is currently working on a batch of new songs, which he feels really great about, however can’t reveal much else at the moment, and if he’s not working on music he’s most likely doing one of his favorite things – “eating too much cereal.”
