6 Music Videos You Should Know Exist
Written by Coog Radio on March 6, 2016
Long gone are the days of TRL and when MTV would play music videos during hours that people are actually awake. Seriously…TRL was the best way to promote what was new in the music and entertainment industry and nothing has replaced it since. Nowadays, networks like MTV and VH1 are so concentrated on reality shows, music videos slip by unnoticed sometimes. As much as I pride myself in being up to date with music, I severely slack in the music video department. With that said, here are a few music videos to keep you from under the rock that I’ve been living under!
“Your Type” by Carly Rae Jepsen
Do you see what I mean? Why and how did it take me nearly four months to see this video? (#fakefan)
If you caught her show at the House of Blues a few weeks ago then you know it was perfection. If the only song that you can attribute to Carly Rae Jepsen is “Call Me Maybe” then we’ve got some work to do. Inspired by ’80s pop and folk, her recent album Emotion is getting all of the rants and raves and rightfully so! I don’t know how I missed this video, but the feel of “Your Type” fits the entire vision for Emotion and that’s exactly what I needed.
“Work From Home” by Fifth Harmony ft. Ty Dolla $ign
WORK. WORK. WORK. WORK. WORK. Finally. A song about work that I can actually sing along to and understand! The sass in this video is so real.
“Stone Cold” by Demi Lovato
From “Confident” to “Stone Cold” real quick. WHEN. DO. THE. TEARS. STOP?
“Youth” by Troye Sivan
TROYE. If Tumblr was a music video, “Youth” would be it. This is my favorite track from his album Blue Neighborhood and I’m so stoked he made an accompanying music video to it. It seems just like yesterday that the only way to get my dose of Troye was by binge watching his YouTube videos. Now, Troye’s storming the radio waves and it’s all I’ve ever wanted for him; I’m so proud of him!
“Colors” by Halsey
Within the first minute, I thought I had this video all figured out. But I was wrong. So wrong. There are plot twists…and then there is this video. I love music videos with a story line and Halsey rocked this.
“The Sound” by The 1975
The band’s incorporation of the harsh things critics have hurled at them make the music video for “The Sound” all things wonderful. The 1975’s new album I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it is the most important album my ears have heard this week.
I am certain that I’ve missed something so leave a comment down below telling us your favorite music video!
