Day For Night Artist Spotlight: Ariel Pink

The king of cassette culture Ariel Marcus Rosenberg, better known as Ariel Pink, has been making music since he was 10 years old.

 

Known for his self-recorded music, he has been releasing music since the mid-to-late nineties. Yet, it was in 1999 when he signed onto the Paw Tracks Label that he released The Doldrums. They re-released Worn Copy and House Arrest, which have gained recognition over time.

When he first began to go on tour, he was met with negative reviews, since he has said that his music was never supposed to be performed live. In 2006, however, he formed the band Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti and in 2009 they were signed, releasing “Round and Round”. In 2010 they released the album Before Today, followed by Mature Themes in 2012.

 

Mostly known for his trolling on the internet, with as many dislikes as likes on his interviews, he has been known in mainstream media as someone who says exactly what he thinks. In November 2014, Ariel Pink released pom pom, his first album without Haunted Graffiti.The subsequent music has gathered a bigger following and on December 17-18, Ariel Pink will come to Houston to play at the Day for Night festival, click the word tickets to buy yourself some passes.
