Drunk in Love! Beyoncé Returns

Written by on January 31, 2023

This past Saturday, (Jan. 21) Beyoncé made her return to the live stage. After taking a four year break from the stage, the global icon performed an exclusive one hour performance at the luxury hotel Atlantis The Royal Dubai. Though short and extremely tricky to gain access into, Beyoncé still managed to cash out a performance check of roughly $24 million USD. The massive check rang in at about $400,000 USD per minute.

To help kickstart the grand opening of Atlantis The Royal Dubai, The Queen Bey handpicked a select list of 17 songs to include in her setlist. Some of the most notable songs included “XO,” “Spirit,” and for the first time since 2011 “Beautiful Liar.”

Even though the venue had a strict “no phone” policy, many fans were able to capture some incredible moments. One of these moments included Blue Ivy Carter, Beyoncé’s 11 year old daughter, with husband Jay-Z, joining her mother on stage to perform their RIAA gold certified song, “Brown Skin Girl.” To end the show, Beyoncé performed the six time platinum hit “Drunk in Love (ft. Jay-Z)” showcasing her vocal abilities while being elevated 16 feet in the air.

The concert was a huge success, receiving critical acclaim for the entertainment packed into just one hour. Ellen Pompeo, widely known for her portrayal of Meredith Grey in ABC’s long running medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, attended the show. Before her attendance, Pompeo was interviewed about her plans for the upcoming weekend, and she responded, “My plans for the weekend are Beyoncé… and then recovering from Beyoncé.”

Beyoncé certainly put on a show, and it was one for the books of musical performance history! The Queen Bey continues her reign atop the throne. There are no future plans for another performance from Beyoncé. However, the singer is nominated for multiple Grammys, so we might receive a performance sooner than we imagined.

The 65th Annual Grammy Awards will premiere February 5th at 6pm CST on CBS.
