Austin City Limits Reveals 2023 Lineup – What You Need to Know
Written by Keylee Paz on May 9, 2023
Austin City Limits is back for 2023 and has revealed its stellar lineup, which features Kendrick Lamar, Shania Twain, the 1975, Alanis Morissette and many more.
The Austin City Limits Music Festival is a staple in the Austin Community, and lineup release day is always a day to anticipate. The lineup for both weekends was revealed on May 9th, which features acts from multiple genres. Most prominent this year – the indie rock/pop genre is making its comeback.
Headliners include rock legends Foo Fighters, who are making their return after the loss of drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022. They’ve been set to play multiple festivals this year, including Boston Calling and Bonnaroo, so it was no surprise to see that they were returning back to Austin. Something that did surprise fans though was the split headlining acts of Shania Twain (W1 only) and the 1975 (W2 only), two acts with a large following. The lineup also includes EDM headlining duo Odesza, alternative/grunge act Alanis Morissette, and indie-folk band The Lumineers. Kendrick Lamar will also make his way back to Texas, and we’re hoping to see he closes out both weekends with a bang.
A few other notable acts on the roster include Kali Uchis, who last played ACL in 2019. Yeah Yeah Yeahs are also making their way back to Zilker Park for the first time since 2009. The lineup also features a multitude of indie acts that were popular in the early 2000s/2010s, such as M83, Tegan and Sara, Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Revivalists and Declan McKenna. There are also a few rap acts scattered throughout, such as Coi Leray and GloRilla. ACL never shies away from featuring Texas artists, and this time, there are quite a few – D4VD (from Houston), Ben Kweller (raised in Emory, TX), Die Spitz (from Austin) and many more.
Overall, the lineup shows that ACL is revitalizing, as it resembles earlier lineups that featured popular indie acts. This year’s fest will be full of high-energy, nostalgia and pure vibes. Although the lineup is missing latin acts (not featured as much like in 2019), ACL is definitely worth checking out this year if you are around the Austin area in October.
The Austin City Limits Music Festival will take place at Zilker Park over the span of two weekends – October 6th through 8th and October 13th through 15th. 3-day tickets (General Admission, plus, VIP, and Platinum) went on sale on May 9th at noon, and 1-day tickets will be available later this year. Tickets start at $335 (with fees and free shipping included), and we recommend you get your tickets sooner than later as we do anticipate both weekends will sell out.
