Lewis Capaldi’s Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent Tour

On Thursday, May eleventh, Lewis Capaldi performed a sold-out show with Medium Build at the 713 Music Hall during the Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent Tour. The night was filled with laughter, tears and good vibes all around. If you’re a fan of sad lyrics combined with goofy personalities and strong vocals, these bands are definitely the ones for you. Dive into the last night on the American part of this tour.
Medium Build
Medium Build, a rock band from Anchorage, Alaska, opened the night with “Misery” from the album Softboy and their latest release, “Say Hi“. After performing the first songs, the band commented on the high-energy level the band has felt across Texas, asking the audience if “barking” was normal in all of Texas or if it was just a Dallas thing, thus encouraging the audience to “bark” after every song thereafter. The band also mentioned it not only was the last day for the American tour with Lewis Capaldi, but it was also lead singer Nick Carpenter’s birthday. Carpenter even invited his mom to the show, who was watching from the front row.
During the performance, the audience was captivated by the powerful emotions in Carpenter’s voice and the band’s stylish look, sporting colorful wigs, and sparkly capes. Carpenter’s hardships and growth is displayed not only in his extremely personal lyrics, but also in his performance. Carpenter writes about the trials and the his struggle with his mental health. The band mentioned that although they were sad the tour was ending, they would be back for their own show in October later this year.
Lewis Capaldi
Lewis Capaldi, pop singer-songwriter and musician from Scotland, put on a memorable show full of jokes. He opened the night with Forget Me and Forever, before engaging with the audience; talking about how excited he was to be in Houston and although he doesn’t make a lot of money on tour, the singer mentioned he “does it for the fame and the ladies”. The singer even asked the audience who was single and who was in a relationship. After the audience revealed most of them are single they look like “sad single motherf*ckers”. Throughout the performance, the artist would frequently interrupt a song to “hush” them during particularly sad songs; Saying things like “What’s funny? I’m barring my soul up here. SHUT UP, ssh.”
Capaldi had the audience singing along to every lyric throughout the night. Some fans even lit up their phone lights during the more sorrowful songs. The artist went on to sing some of his more famous songs like “Before You Go” (that ended with an improvised mash-up with taylor Swift’s Love Story), “Bruises“, The artist also performed his latest single, “Wish You the Best“, during which the song’s music video was playing above the stage, showcasing the death of a dog and a friend. The audience was emotionally captivated; most of the audience was in tears watching both the singer bare his soul and the overwhelming story in the music video.
Capaldi ended the night with a duet with Medium Build as well as one final song, debatably their most famous song, “Someone You Loved“. All in all, the show was a beautiful mix of emotions and memorable jokes. The singer will be continuing his tour in Europe later this month.
