SXSW: Plain White T’s at El Sol Y La Luna

Written by on March 20, 2015

The rumors of free drinks and food are true and alive at SXSW. Copyright Alliance hosted a charity event last night at El Sol Y La Luna called Keep America Creative. All you had to do was RSVP, which I did at the door, and I was in for a free show, unlimited beer and margaritas. Copyright Alliance is an organization that raises awareness against piracy to protect musicians, photographers, and other creative types who work very hard just to have all of their work stolen on the internet. Tex-Mex was present earlier, but I arrived for the last thirty minutes of the event. I was an eighth grade girl again singing “Hey There Delilah” along with Tom Higgenson. They collaborated with the filmmakers of the upcoming documentary Unsound, which reveals the collapse of the music industry and the consequences piracy has caused creative minds. The venue had TV’s all around showing clips from the documentary. I met the producer and director, Count, who was mingling at the event. The dedication and passion surrounding his project was intoxicating within itself.

For more information check out copyrightalliance.org and keep an eye out for Unsound which is in post-production and should be released before the end of the year.
