Vans Warped Tour Artist Spotlight: Broadside
Written by Coog Radio on June 10, 2016
Bands that blur the genre lines are popping up more and more these days and while they’re hard to describe when you are trying to rave about your new favorite band to your friends, it usually makes for some great tunes to listen to no matter what mood you’re in. So take a seat or get up and jam to Broadside.
Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Broadside was formed in 2010 by drummer Andrew Dunton and bassist Josh Glupker who auditioned over 50 vocalist and went through a couple guitarist until they found the perfect mix that is the band’s lineup today which includes guitarists Niles Gibbs, Dorian Cooke and vocalist Ollie Baxxer.
In 2014, Broadside was signed to Victory Records and soon after jumped into the studio to record their first album Old Bones. With “danceable melodies and crunching singalongs,” Old Bones set Broadside on the radar with fans of All Time Low and The Wonder Years.
I just wanted anyone listening to this record to have a moment where they simply relate and reflect on the words because they’ve been there or are currently in that head space. – Ollie Baxxter
Broadside was one of Alternative Press’ 100 Artists You Need to Know in 2015 and in 2016 you better continue to keep an eye on them!
Broadside will be embarking on the Vans Warped Tour starting June 24th in Dallas TX and playing here in Houston on the 26th so make sure to catch them on the Full Sail Stage all summer long!
