For musicians, it’s an inevitable reality that at some point, you’re going to whore yourself out on social media, and that’s totally understandable. But it’s always great when a band can build a following solely through word of mouth and praise for the music. Such was the case with CR favorite Pure X and their […]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSaDElz7wSI Check out the video for “Line of Fire,” the first video from Junip (featuring acoustic powerhouse Jose Gonzalez) off its upcoming self-titled album. Even casual fans of Jose should be excited for this release. “Junip” drops April 23 from Mute Records.
We are being told, baring any unforeseen circumstances, we will be back to our regular broadcast schedule tomorrow (2/19). Thank you for your patience!
P.O.S. has released a new video for “Weird Friends” from their album We Don’t Even Live Here, and it’s every bit as chaotic (and, well, weird) as you’d expect. The visuals and lyrical content are a nice alternative to the usual stuff you’d find in more mainstream hip hop. We Don’t Even Live Here is out […]
All day festival. Many different genres. All ages. Free admission. What more do you need?

Subpop posted on YouTube one of the 15 bonus songs included in the 10th anniversary reissue of The Postal Service’s landmark (and only) album Give Up. Even though it is more of an upbeat departure from the tracks on Give Up, it’s still quality material. The album is out April 9th (preorder through Subpop).

Black Congress’ self-titled EP was just uploaded to their Bandcamp site, and it showcases their unique brand of noise rock. Local boys creating a wall of sound with the trademark weirdness of the Houston underground music scene. It doesn’t get better than that. Tree, the Chicago producer and rapper released one of last year’s standout mixtapes, “Sunday School,” which featured him rapping well and throwing his hoggish, soulful “ah!” all over his signature style of sampling. When at their best, Tree’s beats sound like an assembly line of little toy parts strung up by snares pops. With samples […]
