Brad Paisley attracted a full house to his sixth rodeo appearance and made history when 75,167 paid to see him perform, placing him as the ninth top performer in Rodeo attendance history. Brad Paisley is the definition of flawless; perfectly rehearsed, one could sense there was a free spirit within Paisleys’ artistry. He did as […]

The 21 year old rapper from England flew all the way to Austin to perform at SXSW and had the crowd at the Dr. Martens/Culture Collide house grooving the whole time.  Attendees were happy to have some time out of the rain with Fridays downpour and were welcomed by the incredible lyricism of Little Simz. […]

The Band Perry pioneered their fourth Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo performance to surpass the expectations of over sixty five thousand attendees. Due to recognition of Rodeo competitors, the band was welcomed with a later than usual show time, resulting in a large number of empty seats before the fourth song. Although The Band Perry […]

The Palm on 6th st. was a full house and for good reason.  Not only was the headliner for the evening Too $hort, but names like King Chip, Freddie Gibbs, Slim Thug and Trae the Truth were on the bill as well. The Saturday night evening was put on by Empire Distribution and they really […]

Thursday night, after enduring the terrible disappointment of not being able to see Incubus, I took a break and met with an old friend. We decided to hit dirty sixth, which is an area that frightens me. We ended up hearing some good music coming out of The Dizzy Rooster so we went in there […]

Houston native rapper and producer Travi$ Scott held the homecoming performance of his Rodeo Tour at House of Blues on Monday night, alongside rapper Young Thug. According to an Instagram post from early Monday afternoon, Scott wanted this night to be the most legendary city on the tour; we showed him exactly that.

What better way to end SXSW than having J.Cole perform at one of the biggest venue’s in Austin. The line to enter the venue was crazy, but everyone was willing to wait about several hours to get in. J.Cole took a quick pit stop from his tour to perform Saturday night in Austin bringing a […]

I was able to meet with punk band, GYMSHORTS, from Providence, Rhode Island in a quaint alley near Hotel Vegas in Austin before their set this past Wednesday. I was joined by the whole band which consists of lead vocalist Sarah, guitarist Devin, bassist Michael and drummer Chris. It was short, to the point, and […]

Aside from the big artists at SXSW, the festival was primarily created to support the local musicians as well as the up and coming artists. Hiatus Kaiyote  is a neo-soul group from Melbourne, Australia who made their first debut at SXSW. The group performed at Parish Hall venue on 6th street, an intimate setting at the end […]

Country superstar, Blake Shelton, broke another record when he performed for the fifth time at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Shelton’s 75,016 paid attendees helped place his show in front of other performers, such as Pitbull and Florida Georgia Line. With this attendance record, Shelton holds three positions within the All-Time Top Twenty performances […]

Waking up on Friday and hearing rain was instantly a downer for me. The week had been so beautiful and I never check the weather so I was taken by surprise. I hate being in the rain! My schedule since arriving has been all business so I didn’t have a chance to do what I […]

As if one set wasn’t enough, Doomtree performed twice on Thursday night at Karma Lounge. The official SXSW showcase was packed both times that Doomtree took the stage. The collective hip hop group took Karma and turned it into a straight party. Doomtree is comprised of seven members, and each had a hand in giving […]

The mtvU Woodie music festival and awards show highlights the year’s top fresh artists who made it big on the charts as well as the iconic musicians who have stayed on top. The day started off as a festival with a number of performances from Robert DeLong and Ty Dolla $ign as the openers. Although the […]

After last night I can say that I have never seen anyone up on stage as energized or passionate as Travi$ Scott. The man is an engine that just won’t stop, from beginning to end. He came out Friday evening with flame graphics moving behind the stage and set forth a heated show himself. By […]

At some point in the night I was the most metal I have been all trip. I was standing in the rain devouring a brisket sandwich listening to the metal group Prehistoric Technology. After that, I decided to mellow out and head to Palm Door on Sabine to wait for The Tontons and dry off. […]

Just when you think that SXSW can’t get any better, The Fader Fort presented by Converse takes things to a whole new level.  With free drinks being poured up and multiple stands with food, the Fort is it’s own secluded party.  Not only do they add live music to the list, but on Thursday, the […]

GYMSHORTS. They are a punk band from Providence, Rhode Island. All I can say from the set, is that I am still deaf. The music was loud and Sarah was a true definition of punk wrapped in the frame of a small girl with a pretty smile. The rest of the band was just as gnarly, […]

Lately, Chance The Rapper has been doing features left and right, like Baby Blue with Action Bronson and Cold Stares with Nosaj Thing and The O’Mys (listen to these two songs below if you have not heard them yet), as well as working with his band The Social Experiment for their anticipated album, “Surf.” The high […]

When I found out that Dustin Kensrue, front man of post hard-core band Thrice, would be doing solo sets at this year’s SXSW I lost my mind. I was bartending on a slow Monday and had one bar regular sitting at the bar. I was looking up all of the performing artists and when I […]

The biggest show, attendance wise, that SXSW has had to offer was Spoon this past Thursday at Auditorium Shores. The show was free for wristband and badge holders and they were handing out guest passes for the general public. The park was filled; there were pets and kids in the mix, so it was the […]
